This week, let's talk about something a little different.

If you've been following my journey, you've probably read many stories about the wonderful people helping me gradually build my dream house in Aegina. And to be fair, I have been incredibly lucky to meet some amazing professionals, people who care, who show up, and who genuinely want to help make this dream happen.

But today, I want to talk about the other side of the story.

The side nobody really posts about. The unanswered messages. The quotations that arrive quickly but somehow never turn into completed work. The appointments that keep getting postponed. The jobs that are "almost finished" but somehow remain unfinished for months. And, most of all, the endless chasing.

Honestly, I had no idea this would be such a big part of the process.

Before starting this project, I thought the difficult part would be making decisions, finding the budget, choosing materials, and managing the actual construction.

I was wrong.

One of the biggest challenges has been managing all the people involved. Not when they are there doing the work. But before they even arrive.

The number of hours I spend calling, messaging, following up, requesting quotations, comparing offers, arranging appointments, rescheduling appointments, and trying to get responses is unbelievable. Sometimes I feel like I have taken on a second full-time job.

First, you spend days trying to get someone to come and look at the work. Then you wait for the offer. Then you follow up for the offer. Then you finally receive the offer. Then you try to book a date. Then you follow up on the date. Then you follow up again. And sometimes, after all that effort, the work still doesn't happen.

If I were to calculate all the hours I've spent coordinating, chasing, and reminding people, I honestly think the number would shock me. And I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this. Anyone who has built, renovated, or maintained a home probably understands exactly what I'm talking about. What I still struggle to understand, however, is why some people commit to something and then don't deliver. I know everyone gets busy. I know emergencies happen. I know schedules change.

But professionalism isn't about never having problems. It's about communicating when those problems arise. A simple phone call. A quick message. An honest update. Those things make all the difference.

What becomes exhausting isn't the delay itself.

It's the uncertainty.

It's spending weeks wondering if a job will happen, if a promise will be kept, or if you'll need to start the entire search process from the beginning. And maybe that's why I'm writing this post today. Because right now, I'm at one of those frustrating stages where I desperately want to move forward.

I have ideas. I have plans. I have projects waiting to happen. Yet somehow, I find myself moving backwards, trying to close old agreements and complete tasks that were supposed to be finished long ago.

It's not exciting. It's not Instagram-worthy. It's not the part of building a dream house that people imagine. But it's real. And if this journey has taught me anything, it's that every dream comes with challenges that nobody sees from the outside.

The beautiful photos capture the results. They rarely capture the phone calls, the waiting, the follow-ups, the disappointments, and the patience required to get there. So yes, perhaps this is a little bit of a complaining post. But it's an honest one.

Because building a dream isn't just about enjoying the victories.

It's also about surviving the frustrating moments without giving up.

And despite the delays, the unanswered messages, and the unfinished jobs, I know one thing for sure:

The dream is still worth it.

Even when some days require a lot more patience than others. 😊
