There are places in the world that feel like they’ve been waiting for you long before you arrive.
For me, that place is Aegina.
When we speak about Greece, so many images come to mind — blue seas, sun‑washed villages, the scent of pine and jasmine. But for me, the symbol that rises above them all is the olive tree. It’s the ancient gift of the Olympic Games, the emblem of peace, strength, and eternity. It is Greece in its purest form.
So when I found my little piece of land on this beautiful island, the very first thing I planted was olive trees.
Small for now, maybe — but full of promise.
I imagine them growing year after year, their roots reaching deeper into the Aegina soil, becoming stronger, wiser, and hopefully eternal. I dream of the day their branches cast long shadows over summer afternoons, and their olives become the golden oil that this land has been known for since antiquity.
Each tree has a name — because they are, in many ways, my family. Each one represents a part of our journey to this island, a chapter of our story, a reminder of where we’ve been and where we hope to go. I still need to print the name tags (one of those tasks that somehow keeps getting postponed!), but their personalities are already there, growing with every new leaf.
If you visit my summer house in Aegina, don’t miss the chance to meet them.
Walk among them.
Touch their small, brave branches.
Feel the energy of land that is learning to love new roots.
And maybe, just maybe, in this little grove that is still becoming, you’ll feel your own roots reaching deeper too.
Aegina is not just a destination — it’s a place where you can grow, dream, and reconnect with the timeless soul of Greece.
Come experience it. 🌿🇬🇷
